Want to be an EXTRA on a movie shoot? Ever wondered what it takes to become a Stand-In?
ScreenSask and ACTRA Alberta & Saskatchewan have partnered to present a free online webinar focused on the fundamentals of Stand-In and Background Performer/Extras work. Whether you’re curious about becoming a Stand-In or working as an Extra, this practical online webinar is designed to help you get started with confidence.
Background Performers (often called “extras”) help create the world of a film or television production by appearing in scenes set in restaurants, streets, offices, concerts, and more.
Stand-Ins work more directly with the camera and lighting departments, temporarily taking the place of principal actors during technical setup so crews can work more efficiently.
Experienced industry professionals Stephanie Chabeniuk, Christina Riches, and Lindsey Dietz will lead the session which will cover the essentials of Stand-In and Background work — from terminology and set etiquette to what to expect on the job.
For ACTRA members looking to expand their on-set opportunities or non-members interested in entering the film and television industry in Saskatchewan or Alberta, this workshop will offer valuable insight into one of the industry’s most accessible entry points.
