Canadian-wide broadcasters have sent an open letter to Ottawa calling on the federal government to uphold CRTC streamer contribution rules, saying that immediate funding is necessary to offset advertising and subscriber revenue.
Six broadcast groups, representing more than 600 independent radio and TV individual stations, are urging Prime Minister Mark Carney and Culture Minister Marc Miller to revisit the May CRTC Mandate requiring foreign streaming services to contribute 15% of their Canadian revenue to support Canadian content and news.
