DEADLINE TO APPLY: AUGUST 19, 2026
Following the success of the inaugural program in 2025, the
Independent Production Fund (IPF), in partnership with On Screen Manitoba and
Creative Saskatchewan, is now accepting applications for a second edition of its
Pre-Application Training Program for Prairie Producers.
The program provides Prairie-based producers with training and support to create a
competitive series development funding application. Led by Program Manager Brendon
Sawatzky, this initiative supports participants in developing the essential creative and
business materials required for a successful funding application.
The program is part of the IPF’s ongoing commitment to increase regional
representation and ensure equitable access to funding opportunities across the country.
The program aims to:
● Provide Prairie-based producers the skills to “level-up” all the materials required
for a competitive application.
● Connect participants with experienced story editors and development
executives.
● Help participants improve their understanding of the legal, budgetary, and
scheduling materials required for a competitive application.
The program made an indelible impression on its participants:
“This program provided me the guidance and understanding to successfully prepare for
the IPF Development application.” said 2025 participant Sarah Luby. “ Without the
mentorship, I am not sure I would have had such a successful outcome. I am now in the
development stage, and eternally grateful to this program.”
