Telefilm Canada has issued a Call for Entry for FIRST LOOK USA 2026 initiative.
FIRST LOOK is an international export and sales initiative that provides a preview of 6 features to the acquisition community in New York. Virtual mentorships sessions will be in May, the presentation will be held online mid-June, and the in-person market will be in September.
FIRST LOOK aims to introduce Narrative and Documentary Features currently in post-production and their creators from Canada to sales agents, distributors, agents and festival programmers in the United States.
The selected participants will be mentored by The Gotham’s industry specialist to prepare their pitch and film clips in order to pitch to U.S. industry experts. (Delivery deadline for the film excerpts is end of May)
This program also will include participation in The Gotham Project Market – Producers Hub in late-September, which will provide access to public programming sessions, networking events and 1:1 meetings with the professionals interested in the projects. If in person participation is not possible, virtual meetings will be offered.
Deadline to submit application is April 20, 2026.
