ScreenSask Thanks the Government of Saskatchewan for the Apprenticeship Stream, and for maintaining funding for the Feature Film & Television Production Grant at $10 million

With today’s announcement of the 2026-2027 provincial budget, ScreenSask thanks the Government of Saskatchewan, and the Honourable Alana Ross, Minister of Parks, Culture and Sport, for continuing to show enthusiastic support for the province’s film and television industry.

This support is demonstrated by the launch of The Apprenticeship Stream, an innovative workforce development and training program created to support the growth of Saskatchewan’s film & television industry.

By utilizing existing funding from the Feature Film & Television Grant, this program will attract new productions to film in Saskatchewan. This will attract new dollars to the province, build businesses, create jobs, and showcase Saskatchewan on screen.

The program will be delivered in partnership by Creative Saskatchewan, who will administer the Apprenticeship Stream Grant when it launches April 1st, 2026 and ScreenSask, who will administer the Apprenticeship Stream Training Program.

As well, we are grateful to Minister Ross and the Government for maintaining $10 million in the Feature Film & Television Production Grant for 2026-2027 during what can only be described as difficult times for governments everywhere.

As our industry works together to create and produce more and bigger productions, and to attract production partners from across the country and around the globe, these dollars act as a critical incentive to attract business. And, with each dollar invested by the government providing a spin off of at least $3 for the provincial economy, it provides a solid return on investment.
