New Co-production Treaty with South Africa
Telefilm is pleased to announce that a modernized audiovisual coproduction treaty between Canada and the Republic of South Africa came into effect on January 1, 2026.
This new treaty, which provides a modernized framework for audiovisual coproductions, replaces the Agreement on Audiovisual Co-production between the Government of Canada and the Government of the Republic of South Africa, signed on November 5, 1997.
Audiovisual coproductions governed by a treaty allow Canadian producers to obtain financial and creative participation from foreign sources, and to promote and export Canadian talent worldwide through international partnerships.
