Saskatchewan’s screen industry came out in force to celebrate the season on November 28th at ScreenSask’s Regina Holiday Reception.
On behalf of ScreenSask’s Board of Directors, Karla Weber welcomed the 121 guests in attendance at the Hotel Saskatoon on Friday evening. Robert Hardy, ScreenSask Executive Director acknowledged guests, including government and business officials who joined with the association to celebrate the growth of the province’s screen media industry in 2025.
Barret Kropf, MLA for Dakota-Arm River, brought greetings on behalf of the Honourable Alana Ross, Minister of Parks, Culture and Sports.
In addition to generous door prize give-aways, Alan Bratt, long time ACTRA (the Alliance of Canadian Cinema, Television and Radio Artists) member received special recognition for his long-time service on the ACTRA council, as well as being their representative for many years on the former SMPIA Board. ACTRA is the national union of professional performers working in English language recorded media here in Canada.
Gillian Barker, the branch representative for ACTRA Saskatchewan described Alan as a fixture in the province’s film & TV industry, as well as throughout the community. She presented Alan with a Life Member Awards, recognizing his membership for over 40 years, and his tireless advocacy for our industry and union.
ACTRA Life Memberships are awarded in recognition of a member’s outstanding achievement in their field, their contributions to the industry, and their connection to the community and fellow members. The honour is shared by National recipients like Shirley Douglas and Gordon Pinsent, and local legends like Jean Freeman, who was the first ever member of the Saskatchewan branch of ACTRA.
