Accessible Media Inc. (AMI) is a Canada media company that entertains, informs and empowers Canadians with disabilities through the offering of relevant original content. AMI describes itself as “the world’s first and only disability-focused broadcaster.”
According to a Playback Daily report, AMI is “soliciting stories from creators within the disability community as part of its search for original content that fits its unique lens.”
Cara Nye, AMI’s director of content development and production states that historically AMI’s content has been adult-unscripted and focused less on the disabilities themselves than on the people who have them. Nye reports AMI is now expanding their broadcast scope to include scripted content as well as children’s series.
Future AMI children’s programming include How We Do It a pre-school series from Regina’s Adrian Dean Animation which is in pre-production and has been co-commissioned with Citytv Saskatchewan.
