Applications are now open for ScreenSask’s Feature Film Accelerator, a new professional development program for Saskatchewan filmmakers ready to move a feature project forward.
Applications close October 11, 2026, and the program starts October 15.
Led by acclaimed filmmakers Karen Lam and Kate Kroll, who recently teamed up on the feature film Armageddon Road, written and directed by Karen and produced by Kate, the program brings the writer and producer perspectives together to help participants develop both the creative work and the package around it.
You can apply as a Writer, Producer, or both. And you don’t need to arrive with all the answers.
You don’t need a finished screenplay, financing plan or polished pitch package. Bring us an idea, an outline, some pages or an existing draft.
Beginning October 15, participants will spend four months working through the creative, practical and business sides of developing a feature: strengthening the screenplay, identifying the audience, building the package, exploring production and financing strategy, and learning how to pitch the project.
The accelerator combines self-directed online learning, faculty check-ins, hands-on project development and an in-person intensive. Most of the work can be done from anywhere in Saskatchewan and on your own schedule between scheduled activities.
This isn’t a traditional screenwriting class. We provide the structure, tools, expertise, feedback and inspiration. You do the work on your own feature.
At the end of Phase I, a select group of projects will be invited to continue into Phase II for more advanced development and support through the spring.
Bring us the movie you want to make. We’ll help you move it forward.
Apply by October 11, 2026. Program begins October 15 with online learning and online checkins.
